1891 Yale Football Cabinet

This is a very special football cabinet photos from the 1891 Yale Championship team.  This was one of the most dominant football teams of all time.  They finished with a record of 13-0 and went unscored upon beating up their opponents 488-0.  They were coached by the legendary Walter Camp and was the Senior year for standout Pudge Heffelfinger and Freshman year for Frank Hinkey.

Thomas Lee "Bum" McClung:
He was the captain of the 1891 squad.  He later served as the 22nd U.S. Treasurer under President Taft and his signature is on some old currency.

Pudge Heffelfinger:
He was a 3 time All-American for Yale.  He is credited as being the first professional football player.  He was paid to play football for the Allegheny Athletic Association in 1892.

Frank Hinkey:

He is one of a handful of players to be named as a 4-time All-American.  That is an accomplishment that probably will never happen again with many players leaving early for the NFL draft.  Despite his small stature he was known as a J.J. Watt type of defensive enforcer.  There is some amazing information about his career and life here FrankHinkey

Late 19th Century Holbrook Military Academy Pach Bros Imperial Cabinet Photos

Here are some large cabinet photos of the Holbrook Military Academy.  They were taken by the prestigious Pach Bros Photography Studio.  Pach Bros were responsible for taking photos of many of the ivy league schools during the time including Princeton, Harvard, and Yale.  Holbrook Military Acadamy was in Ossining, New York near Sing Sing and closed in 1915.  It is also interesting to note that the way these photos were stored over the years caused transfer of one photo to the back of the other.

1870s Rugby CDV Edinburgh Institution F.P.

This is an 1870s Howie Jun rugby CDV of Edinburgh Institution F.P.  This team was formed between 1871 and 1872.  As one would suspect it is pretty difficult to find any information about this team because records around this period were not great.  Howie Jun was a fairly prominent photographer during this time.  Another interesting feature of this CDV is the fact that most Howie Jun CDV's state Established in 1840 on the back, but this one says 1839.

A picture of an older team I could find.
